£350 (includes course materials, certification fee and kit)

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three areas:

  • Knowledge Development (independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving

  • Confined Water Dives in a swimming pool to learn basic scuba diving skills

  • Open Water Dives in a lake or the sea to use your skills and explore!

Equipment

In the PADI Open Water Diver course all the equipment is provided for the duration of the course. You'll learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank.

Getting Started

Contact the Scuba Life team to find out more and arrange to start your course. We give you your independent study materials (known as a ‘Crew Pack’) and arrange the dates for you to start your swimming pool sessions.

Once Qualified

You will be able to use your new scuba diving certification anywhere in the world! To dive to a maximum depth of 18m (for adults) or to 12m (for children).

Location

The pool sessions typically are based at Benfield Sports Centre in Newcastle fortnightly on a Thursday evening. We also have access to other pools on different times if needed. Once you are comfortable in the water and you've completed all the required skills we'll arrange to go to a local lake or the sea to complete your open water dives.
